Press photographer Martin Elliott is asking for people and businesses to donate vital medical supplies for a baby unit in Africa.
He plans to take a suitcase full of equipment when he visits the Gambia next month and is appealing for help from the circulation area of the Derby Evening Telegraph, where he works.


Budding Cornish reporter Claire Pipe will be jetting off next month to China to work on the Shanghai daily newspaper The Star.
Eighteen-year-old Claire has recently been on work experience on The Cornish Guardian and will spend 11 weeks working in the busy newsroom of the English language newspaper.


The Sunday Mercury is claiming it has been ex-communicated by the Roman Catholic Church in the Midlands after its expose on a paedophile priest, who died recently.
The tabloid, which had been gagged by the priest's lawyers says the diocesan press office has told it not to expect any help in future.


Archant publishing group staff from around the UK have been busy raising cash for good causes during the past 12 months, by parascending, cycling, singing, staying teetotal and even wearing a blindfold all day for the Archant Gold charity drive.
Under the scheme, Norfolk-based Archant doubles whatever money its staff raises.


A special buffet was hosted by the Tamworth Herald for members of the Colin Grazier Memorial Committee as a thank you for its work to bring a memorial statue to the town.
It commemorates the bravery of three sailors who retrieved vital codes for the Enigma machine in a mission which is said to have shortened the Second World War.
