London titles get new editor

Simon Jones has been appointed as the new editor of North London & Herts newspapers.

He succeeds Justine Woods who resigned shortly before Christmas.

In his new role, Simon, (32), will be responsible for the Enfield Gazette, Enfield Advertiser, Haringey Advertiser and Barnet Press & Advertiser.

Simon is extremely familiar with the titles, having been deputy editor until June last year when he joined the newsdesk of The Western Mail.

He was also previously a reporter and assistant editor on the titles.

He said: "I have a strong affinity with the Enfield Advertiser, and its sister papers.

"It's my firm intention to build on their reputation as a leading group of local newspapers and ensure they become a beacon for quality local journalism."

During his 14 years in journalism, Simon has also worked in New Zealand, working as a reporter on The Sunday Star-Times and deputy editor of current affairs magazine, Investigate.
