Football chairman sends reporter for an early bath

It is simply amazing what a dedicated reporter will do to get a story…

Ace hack Ashley Loveridge (left), of the Stroud News & Journal in Gloucestershire, stripped off and took the plunge, braving a soggy notepad to join wealthy philanthropist Colin Gardner in his garden Jacuzzi.

Ashley played the part and came back with the goods, getting great copy from the big man who, as well as being a successful businessman is a patron of charities and chairman of Gloucester City FC.

Ashley said: "It was a straightforward profile piece and when I phoned Colin he said to bring my trunks when I went to see him.

He played along and was more than happy to wear the Santa hat too!"
