Navy messages launched by Herald

The Evening Herald is teaming up with the Navy to bring Christmas cheer to servicemen and women serving overseas.

It will collect messages from their families living in the Plymouth area and publish them in the newspaper during the festive season.

Ships from the Plymouth Devonport Navy base due to be away at Christmas include frigate HMS Cumberland, and survey ships HMS Roebuck and HMS Scott.

The paper will also print ship-to-shore messages before sending a bulk delivery of its Christmas editions for the sailors to read.
