A time to celebrate the vital role of the regional press

Next year's Local Newspaper Week will run from May 5 to May 11.

Run by the Newspaper Society, the event celebrates the vital community role of regional newspapers across the UK.

It also offers an industry wide opportunity to promote the strengths of the regional press as an advertising medium for national and local businesses.

Hundreds of regional newspapers took part in this year's event, producing special features, launching events, and running competitions and reader offers.

Next year's event will be the sixth Local Newspaper Week, which now also incorporates the Prince's Trust Local Reporting Award.
