The National Union of Journalists has condemned a move by Trinity Mirror to close new entry to its three final salary pension schemes as being equivalent to a cut in pay.
The NUJ said it would back all members who voted to strike or take other industrial action against the move and general secretary Jeremy Dear said: "Pensions are deferred salaries and a cut in pension contributions and benefits is the same as a cut in pay."
Speakers from national and regional newspapers, law firms, magazines and broadcasters are to address issues including libel, online publication, contempt and human rights at a law conference organised by the Newspaper Society.
