Newspaper may hold clues to 'Trophy Rapist'

Detectives hunting 'the Trophy Rapist' are hoping that the Bracknell News may hold clues that will help them find the serial sex attacker.

They are currently studying old copies of the newspaper in the hope of discovering if the same man first struck 22 years ago.

In July this year a 12-year-old Bracknell schoolgirl was raped and the case has been linked to 'the Trophy Rapist' who is believed to have carried out 10 sex attacks across the South East over the past 11 months.

Now police are examining the possibility that the same man may have started his trail of terror in Bracknell in 1980.

That year the Bracknell News reported that a 13-year-old girl was dragged into a copse and raped while walking home.

The method of attack, description of attacker and location of the rape are all similar to recent incidents, and although the crime happened 22 years ago, the man was described as being in his mid-20s - meaning he would still fit within today's police profile.
