More clock-watching for Telegraph staff!

A drivers' time check is almost up and running again, thanks to the Grimsby and Scunthorpe Telegraph.

Thousands of motorists used the time and temperature check on the side of the company's Cleethorpe Road building for more than 25 years - until it finally gave up due to old age earlier this year.

But now a new clock has been installed, complete with new signage on Telegraph House.

It will be unveiled in about a week's time, when the scaffolding is removed.

Managing director of Grimsby and Scunthorpe Newspapers, Mark Webb, welcomed the new addition and the return of a well-known landmark.

He said: "Our staff have continuously been asked when the time and temperature display was going to return as many rely on it as a time check into work. We're pleased it is back.

"It is all part of our plan to brighten up the building and improve the image of the Freeman Street area."

Telegraph maintenance manager Keith Clark said: "The clock utilises up-to-date digital technology. It actually receives its signal via satellite from the Rugby Time Signal Transmitter in Warwickshire. It checks itself continuously to ensure it is accurate."
