The Newcastle Chronicle and Journal is giving readers a chance to improve their IT skills with a wide range of courses on offer as part of its USE IT @ the Newsroom project.
The sessions have been designed so that adults can improve their computer knowledge to enable them to help their children with homework, give them access to the Internet and improve their employability skills.
The Newsroom, in Shieldfield, Newcastle upon Tyne, was holding an open afternoon today to give visitors an opportunity to sample the courses on offer.
Free 'Taster Courses' include Desk Top Publishing, Digital Photography, Internet, Introduction to the computer, Introduction to Word and Introduction to Spreadsheets.
Newcastle Chronicle and Journal's newsroom is committed to introducing the people of the North East to the world of media and the benefits of more effective communication whilst improving life-long learning across the region.
Funding for the USE IT centre has come from Newcastle City Council and the courses will be initially delivered by Newcastle College.
