Journal closes office to improve product

The North Devon Journal has been making changes to the way it collects information for news and advertising to win cost savings and improvements in service.

Its district office in Bideford is to close, with business being transferred to the main office in Barnstaple.

The paper is showing consistently high sales growth in the Bideford area and managers are hoping to make further gains with future improvements.

Managing editor Andy Cooper said: "The cost savings will be re-routed directly into the Journal, thereby improving the paper and offering more to readers in the area."

One member of staff was being made redundant as a result of the changes.
