A special musical tribute has been paid to a former Derby Evening Telegraph journalist who died in March.
Roy Hollingworth began his journalistic career on the Derby paper and at the age of 16 became its pop correspondent - a post he held until the late 1960s.
And at a one-off reunion of 60s bands in Derby called the Big Beat Bash, Roy was remembered with a musical tribute by one of his friends, Tom Anfield.
Roy had been due to appear at the Big Beat Bash as a celebrity presenter. A written tribute was also published in the programmme for the event.
After working at the Evening Telegraph he was headhunted by Melody Maker and also worked for Rolling Stone Magazine in New York. The sell-out crowd of 1,000 was told that Roy had been looking forward to returning to Derby to see some of the old faces from the 60s.
Roy moved to London in the mid-70s to concentrate on his real passion for music and in the 80s found fame as a singer/songwriter in Germany where he enjoyed chart success.
Shortly before his death he was still writing and recording songs in London. He also taught guitar and amongst his recent pupils was the son of guitar legend Pete Townsend.
