Legendary political journalist Chris Moncrieff is to join the Western Daily Press as a columnist.He will give readers an insight into life in the corridors of power.
Awarded the CBE in the 1989 New Year's Honours for services to Parliamentary journalism, Chris is chief political adviser to the Press Association and has also embarked on a career as a TV broadcaster.


Oldham Chronicle travel writer Ken Bennett has scooped silver in the North West Tourist Board's annual awards.
He picked up his award at a ceremony at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester.
He was pipped to the gold award for the Tourist Journalist of the Year by Andy Gill, of BBC North West Tonight.


Retired journalists Arthur and Bette Binnie have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
The couple met while working as young reporters - Arthur with the Arbroath Herald and Bette with the Arbroath Guide.
The couple married in Arbroath in 1952 before moving to Aberdeen where Arthur went on to work for both the Evening Express and Press and Journal.


Oxford Mail sports reporter John Gaisford has scooped two awards in an allotment competition run by the city council.
The Oxford speedway and greyhound correspondent and photographer, who has worked at the Mail for more than 50 years, won the Standingford Shield prize for allotment holders who have never won before.
His plot was also judged best in the age group 60 to 69.


South Wales couple Clive and Jayne Davies are celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary - 12 years after Clive proposed on the front page of the Evening Post.
The couple now have two children.
Clive, a self-confessed romantic, chose the public proposal after a friend put up a banner in the city centre asking his girlfriend to marry him.
Clive said: "I am sure without the help of the Evening Post Jayne and myself may never have got married."
