BBC giant to speak at awards

Greg Dyke is to be the keynote speaker at the York Evening Press's Business of the Year awards.

The director general of the BBC will give a speech at the ceremony on the theme of awards - the Secret to Unlocking Your Future Profit.

  • Greg Dyke
  • Evening Press editor Liz Page said: "Greg Dyke's arrival at the awards indicates how hugely prestigious our annual ceremony, which began 12 years ago, has become.

"It is the biggest, most coveted honours event of its kind on the area's business calendar."

The glittering event is being held at the 14th century Merchant Adventurers Hall in York on Thursday, November 21.

Mr Dyke, a former journalist, is a multi-millionaire in his own right, and his approach to his £2.6bn budget has seen his corporation's successful bid to seize control of digital terrestrial TV following the collapse of ITV Digital.

Mr Dyke graduated in politics at the University of York in 1974 and received an honorary doctorate from the university in July 1999.
