A special part of Broadland nature reserve in Norfolk has been named after Michael Seago, a former Eastern Daily Press wildlife correspondent who died in 1999.
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds has named the area 'Seago's Marsh' after the journalist, who also worked on the Yarmouth Mercury and the Norwich Evening News.


Geoff Elvish, the longest serving employee of the Northern Echo is celebrating 40 years with the newspaper.
The systems manager began his career as an apprentice compositor on September 10, 1962.


The Torquay Herald Express' Heart Appeal, which aims to raise £500,000 for state-of-the-art cardiac facilities at Torbay Hospital is 18 months, has reached the £25,000 mark after just 40 days.
Editor Brendan Hanrahan said: "It shows the dedicated and committed response that so many people have given to our appeal. I'm sure we'll all have a lot more fun on the long road ahead."


Hundreds of Sheffield Star readers have voted for the grounds of a Sheffield church to be restored.
The project came out on top of a choice of three in a Home Office-funded scheme called The Experience Corps which helps the over 50s to use their skills for voluntary work.


Brian Courtney, a veteran journalist on the Portadown Times, has retired after 49 years in newspapers.
He began his career in 1951 with the former Portadown News.
Portadown Times editor David Armstrong said: "Brian has been reporting for almost 50 years and in all that time he has never made an enemy."
