Archant Norfolk's longest serving member of editorial staff is celebrating 40 years of continuous service with the company.

Terry Reeve (pictured), now chief reporter on the Lowestoft Journal, first joined the group in 1962.

Terry, (59), said: "I joined straight from school and began at the Norwich office where I shadowed a reporter.

"I then went to the Eastern Daily Press head office and worked with some legendary names like Bert Chapman.

"I think the first year in the job is the one you remember with most fondness as everything is new and exciting. North Norfolk is quite a newsy place with lots of lifeboat and sea stories to cover."

During his career, Terry has worked on the Eastern Daily Press and Norfolk Weekly Series in nine different offices.

He said: "At the North Norfolk News we didn't used to have separate staff - we used to serve all the papers in the company including the EDP and Evening News.

"Now we have dedicated staff for the papers but still working together. Everything has changed - it's a lot easier now typewriters have become obsolete but you still never seem to have any more time on your hands!"

Terry has now been at the Lowestoft Journal for six years and is planning to stay.

"It's nice that we have close contact with the editor in Lowestoft," he said.

"I am enjoying it here and have no plans to move. I'd like to think that my continuity of service means I know how the company works and that loyalty still counts.

"I have enjoyed working on the weeklies mainly, where there is more of a community feel from serving the local community so closely."
