Midlands move for Marc

Marc Astley has been named as the new deputy editor of the Nottingham Evening Post.

Currently assistant editor at the Hull Daily Mail, Marc (pictured) will join the Evening Post on September 30.

He takes over from Jon Grubb, who was appointed editor of the Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph earlier this month.

Marc, (37), has worked at the Mail for almost five years, joining as head of news before being promoted to content editor. He has been assistant editor for the last two-and-a-half years.

Marc said: "I'm originally from Leicester so it will be nice to return to the Midlands.

"I'm really looking forward to working with the team at Nottingham. It's a fantastic paper and a fantastic opportunity for me.

"I'll be really sad to leave Hull. It's been a lot of hard work but we've developed a strong team here and the paper has changed dramatically over the past four or five years.

"I also really like the city - it has a bright future and I'll miss not being a part of it.

"However, I'm really excited about moving to Nottingham and being part of the team there."

Marc has previously worked at the Nuneaton Evening Tribune, Leicester Mercury and Exeter Express and Echo.
