Sports journalist dies aged 54

Sports journalist Jim Blair has died. He was 54.

He had worked for the Evening Times in Glasgow and the Daily Record, starting out as a copy boy for the Evening Times.

During his time at the paper he moved on to the sports desk, first as a sub-editor and then as a writer when he covered Rangers' European Cup Winners' Cup win and the 1974 World Cup.

In the late 1970s Jim moved to the Daily Record where he stayed for more than 15 years.

He leaves his wife, Carole, and son, Graeme.
