Journalist John King has died at the age of 79.
He began his career as a regional newspaper journalist in the West of England and later worked for the Daily Express.
In 1939 he began working for a weekly paper, but in 1941 volunteered for the Royal Navy and served on destroyers in Mediterranean convoys.
In 1946 he went back to newspapers and after two years on various weeklies he joined the Bristol Evening World as a sub-editor.
He joined the Daily Express in 1952, working on the paper for more than 30 years.
