Former Leicester Mercury art correspondent Ron Moore has died. He was 88.

He died at Leicester General Hospital after a short illness.

A talented artist himself, Ron wrote for the Mercury for more than 40 years, promoting local art and artists.

He was buried in his family grave at Welford Road cemetery after a noon service at St Denys Church, Shady Lane, Evington.
