The Daily Echo is launching a fresh push for leads following the murder of South Korean language student Jong-Ok Shin.

It has published a poster of the 26-year-old, who was stabbed to death on the streets in Bournemouth a month ago.

And to keep the attack in everyone's minds, a daily column will be published in the Echo to try to help jog people's memories and find potential new witnesses. Oki, as she was known, was found stabbed at 2.56am on July 12 and died later in Poole Hospital.

Daily Echo editor Neal Butterworth said: "As a local newspaper we want to use all the resources at our disposal to publicise this brutal and shocking murder. I only hope this makes some contribution to bringing Oki's killer to justice."

One problem with the investigation is the sheer number of temporary residents in the town, including holidaymakers and students.

Superintendent Pete Jackson, who is leading the inquiry, said: "We welcome the Daily Echo initiative which gives us the opportunity to keep the investigation in the public mind.

"By doing this I hope those vital witnesses who have not yet contacted us will reconsider and make that call.

"The column will also serve as a reminder to Bournemouth's ever-changing language student population and their host families and allow them to promote sensible personal safety measures."
