Two editors tell the Queen of papers' role

Evening Star editor Nigel Pickover and Eastern Daily Press editor Peter Franzen both met the Queen on her visit to East Suffolk and talked her through the production process of the newspapers.

She watched early editions of the Evening Star being printed thanks to a special audio-visual link set up at a business centre she visited.

Nigel, along with Archant Print managing director Peter Dodds, also explained the papers' role in the community.

Migel said: "Her Majesty kindly agreed to inaugurate our new press extension and was able to watch pictures of the day's paper come off the presses.

Peter Dodds added: "Her Majesty was genuinely interested and generous in her praise of the extension of the Ipswich press lines, and we were of course delighted and honoured that she was able to find time in her busy schedule to inaugurate the project."

The Queen told EDP editor Peter Franzen that her trips to Sandringham were not complete without reading the newspaper at breakfast. She revealed she had been reading it over breakfast that morning.

The Queen also used the business centre visit to meet young people from across the county who started their own businesses with help from the Prince's Trust.
