Sharing design, production and marketing knowledge

The Brighton Argus training manager Lizzie Steel has joined a panel of experts to help schoolchildren understand the world of work.

Lizzie and other key professionals offered their expert knowledge of design, production and marketing, at Industry Day for Longhill School, Rottingdean.

Children were set the task of designing a biscuit on a 'Golden Jubilee' theme and then using their new-found knowledge to package and promote it.

The school's careers co-ordinator Jane Tomsett said: "The idea was to show children the relevance of the subjects they are studying to the world of work and hopefully stimulate ideas."

She hopes the Industry Day will become an annual event.

Other experts included representatives from Marks and Spencer, Southern FM, Brighton and Hove City Council, Asda, City College, Brighton and Hove, and the Design Council.
