Unsung heroes throughout Sussex got the recognition they deserved at a star-studded awards ceremony organized by the local newspaper.
Celebrities packed The Argus Achievement Awards ceremony at the Brighton Metropole Hotel.
They included football legend Jimmy Hill, At Home With The Braithwaites star Julie Graham, veteran actor Hugh Lloyd and ex-Dollar singer David Van Day.
Newsreader and host for the evening Nicholas Owen described it as "one of the most rewarding evenings of his career."
The Argus encouraged readers to nominate people in 11 categories and a panel of judges then shortlisted three finalists in each category.
Categories included Achievement of the Year, School of the Year, Parent of the Year, Courageous Child and a Beyond the Call of Duty award.
Brighton-based girl group Unity asked to play at the event and performed for the 400-strong crowd at the inaugural awards.
