Haemorrhage claims photographer's life at 31

Former Nottingham Evening Post photographer Steve Thompson has died suddenly after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

Steve, (31), was at home in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, with his partner Tina Walker when he collapsed last Wednesday.

He was treated at two hospitals and died at Stoke's City General Hospital two days later.

Steve worked for the Post from 1998 to 2000. Recently, he started his own photographic agency, Box Photos, in Stoke.

Speaking from his home in Read, near Burnley, Steve's father Ian told of his sadness at the loss of his son.

He, his wife Margaret, and younger son Kevin, spent three days at Steve's bedside.

He said: "We could feel him and he could hear us until about 4pm last Thursday. Until that moment I never let my voice be anything other than cheerful in his presence."

Steve's funeral will take place at St John the Evangelist Church in Read tomorrow.
