Former sports journalist Trevor Wood is hoping to make it big after the premiere of his stage comedy Good to Firm, which played to audiences in South Shields at the weekend.
Trevor used to work on the Newcastle Chronicle's sports desk in the late 1990s before moving to become a council press officer and a househusband after that.
Good to Firm, co-written by Ed Waugh, is set against the backdrop of the Grand National and tells the problems confronting a man who has been married for 25 years - and then his childhood sweetheart returns from America with a secret to share.
Trevor said: "It was a bit of a leap of faith to leave work to do this, and to have our first piece performed professionally so soon is beyond my wildest dreams."
