Sudden death of long-serving editor

The former editor of the Epsom Advertiser, Tim Watkins, has died aged 56 after suffering a heart attack at home.

Tim joined the Croydon Advertiser group as a junior reporter in May, 1965.

During his time with the company he worked in Croydon as well as at the group's district offices and became editor of the Epsom edition in the early 1980s.

He went on to play a key role in the introduction of the Advertiser's first computerised editorial publishing system and was production editor of the Croydon Advertiser at the time of his death.

His funeral was held at Croydon Crematorium.
