Teen named after Echo's court application

The Evening Echo has won the right to name a teenager handed an anti-social behaviour order by magistrates.

The 17-year-old was the first in Southend to receive the order, which is designed to protect people and property on an estate in the town.

District Judge Kevin Gray agreed with an application by the Evening Echo that it would be in the public interest to lift reporting restrictions.

The youth involved had been involved in a catalogue of cases including theft, assault and threatening behaviour, verbal abuse to neighbours, and driving while unlicensed, uninsured, untaxed and while under age.
