A dedicated Aberdeen Journals employee has been awarded a long-service award to mark his 30 years in pre-press.
Denis Burt began his career making up adverts using "hot metal" when the Press & Journal was a 12-page black-and-white paper. He has also worked for the Evening Express over the years and received his award from managing director Alan Scott.


The Evening News has given Scarborough youngsters the chance of an insight into the world of journalism and newspaper production.The paper lent a hand to help children at a local rural youth project launch their own newsletter. The project could soon be backed by Prince's Trust money.


Murder investigation posters produced by the Evening Herald have been put up close to the spot in Plymouth where David Taylor died.
Police joined forced with the newspaper to produce the eye-catching posters to encourage witnesses to come forward.


Two anonymous donations of £1,000 each have been sent to The News to back a campaign to save charity fun clubs in Hampshire.
The Fareham Kids charity has suffered a £100,000 shortfall in funding during the last year but calculated just £45,000 would guarantee its survival.


The Grimsby Telegraph has been praised for its efforts to help track down a murderer.
Police Inspector Steve Page said: "This was yet another successful partnership between the police and the local media which resulted in the Grimsby Telegraph printing a lot of posters. These will have helped jog people's memories, I am sure."


The Leicester Mercury's Stay off the Track campaign has recruited stars from Leicester City FC to persuade young fans not to play on the railways.
The Mercury is working with Railtrack, the British Transport police, Midland Mainline, Central Trains and EWS Railways to beat trespass and vandalism.
