Home delivery scheme could provide answers

A rural home newspaper delivery operating in Norfolk has been singled out by the Newspaper Industry for closer attention.

A joint industry group has been given the task of finding a solution to a growing concern over rural home deliveries, and will look at Archant Norfolk's Big News Home Delivery scheme.

The group, made up of representatives from the national and magazine publishers, wholesalers, newsagent associations and multiple retailer groups, is to find out more from the regional publisher.

Don Williamson, Archant Norfolk's head of newspaper sales development, said: "It is rare for a regional publisher to be asked to present a possible industry solution for an area both national and regional publishers are concerned about."

Big News, along with the Archant Norfolk Roundsmen Association, handles more than 16 per cent of its daily newspaper sales and is currently outperforming traditional newsagents sales performance.
