Death of former Yorkshire journalist

Former Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Barry Plumb has died, aged 58.

Barry joined the Evening Post in the late 1960s and was the paper's motoring correspondent for many years.

He was a popular figure among journalism circles in Leeds and was always immaculately dressed in a grey, double-breasted suit.

Barry left the Evening Post in the early 1980s and briefly ran a florist shop in Huddersfield before returning to journalism, working in Cumbria.

He later became a press officer with West Yorkshire Police, but had retired on health grounds.

He leaves a widow, Lynne.
