Chronicle is game for a laugh

The Sevenoaks Chronicle is known as a good read - but it's not often the paper provides enough material for a 20-minute comic routine.

But comedienne Jo Brand cracked a whole series of jokes based on the week's paper when she appeared at the town's Stag Theatre.

Her material included a local village library being hit by arsonists and an appearance by a local postman on TV's Blind Date.

Theatre spokeswoman Liza Donoghue said: "Her support act got stuck in traffic so she went out and bought the Chronicle, which had come out that day, and made a sketch up on the spot - it was very funny."
