Forgotten news in Oswestry

The Shropshire Star is on the move in Oswestry - and the change of scene has unearthed a few memories among the junk from the cupboards in the old office.

Ten members of staff are based in the district office, which is moving from Oswald Road to Salop Road in the town.

They include reporters, photographers, advertising and circulation people.

Old newspapers dating back to 1972 were found in the old office, as well as an early 1970s interview - obviously pounded out on an old-fashioned typewriter - with a very young MP by the name of… John Biffen, now a senior politician in the House of Lords.

The new building is being brought into use this week after months of work transformed the building, which has never been used before.
