Getting personal

Professional style consultants have been appointed at Debenhams in Plymouth to offer one-to-one advice on fashion, homeware and gifts.
In the privacy of a Personal Shopper suite, consultants will find out what the customer wants before helping them find it.
Reporter Louise Thomas, of the Evening Herald, investigates.

The words were like music to my ears.

"Be at Debenhams by 10am ready to shop, shop, shop," my news editor announced.

Could this possibly be the best job in the world?

I had been tasked to try out the store's new Personal Shopper service.

And boy, do I like shopping.

There was one huge downside - I would have to give the clothes back.

But armed with my own exhausted credit cards I was ready for action.

By the time I left the office, I was already dreaming of wall-to-wall designer fashions just waiting for me to prise them from the hangers.

Waiting at the store to help me were fashion gurus Kay Boylin and Kate Hope.

These ladies are Debenhams' very own Personal Shoppers.
