Island life reflected in new website

Newsquest Southern has stepped-up its offensive on the Isle of Wight market with the launch of a new website dedicated to inhabitants of the island.

The Southern Daily Echo recently introduced a weekly Isle of Wight edition, which is shipped from its Southampton HQ across the water to the island every Thursday.

To complement the successful new addition to its print stable, Newsquest's Southern Digital Media department have produced a 'This is the Isle of Wight' website to match.

The new site is yet another extension to the Southern Daily Echo's mainwebsite, This is Southampton.co.uk and can be found at www.thisissouthampton.co.uk/iow.

The site helps bring the Daily Echo's news to islanders 24-hours a day. Itis updated regularly with news and sport stories and features strong linksto the Daily Echo's SailSolent pages, features and guides to activities andevents on the Isle of Wight.

The man responsible for bringing the Daily Echo's website to the island, web content editor Phil Burner, said: "The Daily Echo is sold on the islandevery day, but with the introduction of the special Isle of Wight edition onThursdays, we decided to extend our web operations across the Solent too.

"I'm sure residents will find the new website an extremely attractive,easy-to-use and thoroughly useful resource."
