Newsquest's busy Southern Digital Media team has launched a brand new website in time for the Volvo Ocean Race and Southampton Boat Show.

Sailsolent.co.uk is a dedicated site for Solent sailors to provide them with news, events, results and information from the pages of the Daily Echo in Southampton, The Daily Echo in Bournemouth and Hampshire Chronicle.

Content Editor, Phil Burner, said: "Sailsolent.co.uk is quite a big site with many features and I'm sure it will become a firm favourite on all local sailors bookmark lists.

"In the first week we managed just over 5,500 page impressions with very little pre or in-house publicity."

Each major local sailing event has its own special section on the site, from Round the Island Race, Cowes Week to The Southampton Boat Show … and of course The Volvo Ocean Race.

The site also contains other essential info for the boating fraternity- an up-to-date general weather forecast, shipping forecasts, a section on our famous local sailors and extensive links to yachting organisations, sailing clubs and sponsors.

The site is designed to grow dynamically, not just to feature the current big event but also in response to feedback from site visitors.
