25-page web section on Jill's Garden

A newspaper website has set up a special section to mark the creation of a garden in memory of the murdered BBC TV presenter Jill Dando.

She started her career at the Weston & Somerset Mercury, where her brother Nigel, who later moved to the Bristol Evening Post, also trained. Jill joined the Mercury in 1979 and stayed there for five years before moving into radio.

Their father Jack was also in the business - as head compositor at the same paper.

The Mercury's website carries a 25-page section charting the garden's creation by the BBC's Ground Force team, showing how the work was done and featuring a gallery of exclusive photos.

It will serve as a permanent memorial in the town where she was born.

The project came about when the Mercury contacted Ground Force and, working closely with North Somerset Council, the team agreed to transform the sunken rose garden at the front of Grove House.

The website also carries in-depth coverage and analysis of the trial of Barry George, convicted of the presenter's killing outside her London flat, and a celebration of her life and work.
