Weekly papers get on the Web

Two weekly newspapers have launched new websites this week.

Chesterfieldtoday.co.uk, a revamp of the Derbyshire Times' former website, went live on the web on Thursday.

The new site is a result of months of hard work by the paper's Internet team.

Along with much of the former site's old features and content, the site now includes national and international news and a new search option based on postcodes which enables readers to track down essential services close to their home.

The Barry and District News has also launched its own website, Thisisbarry.co.uk.

The site will provide its users with news, features, entertainment and sport, with the paper's weekly local news being mixed with a rolling national news service.

It will also provide a complete listings guide for the area, as well as a list of useful contacts for local council and health departments, libraries and schools.
