Roving webcam first

A roving webcam was due to deliver an Internet first for Shropshirestar.com today as it sent a record of the Shrewsbury Flower Show to computer screens around the world.

Internet editor Mark Waugh commandeered a laptop, web cam and the highest speed mobile phone data connection available to moving around the venue to bring images of the event from all angles.

Transmission started at 2pm yesterday (Friday) and continue through today.

Mark said: "The images will automatically update every few seconds, so if you can't be there, you can at least get a taste of this year's show, which looks like it could be a record-breaker in terms of attendance.

"We're even marking the event with a few animated surprises on our weather map - so be sure to take a look."

Today is also a big day in other ways for the website - it sees the online launch of this year's Big Kick Off supplement, profiling the year ahead for leading Shropshire and Mid Wales teams.
