Award-winning site revamped

On August 30, the Kent Messenger Group's award-winning website Kent Online will be reborn in the most exciting and revolutionary development since the project started more than three years ago.

The relaunch - the result of ceaseless work by the new media team since the beginning of this year - encompasses radical technical changes: bringing the web server in house, transcribing more than 40 databases into a new format, writing miles of new code and scripts, working with editorial on community news and other joint ventures and introducing new methods of presentation for associated pages like Fish4 and Howletts.

The site has been completely redesigned, giving it a cleaner look, greaterinteractivity, and a quality that rivals anything else on the web.

Motors, Jobs, Property and Free ads are all re-presented in a brighter, brisker style.

The community aspect, a keystone of the project, has been enlarged toinclude more than 550 towns and villages, each with description, picturesand interlinked searches.

Community news will also appear on the site. These and other news items will be automatically linked to relevant localities in a way which no otherwebsite has achieved in scope or scale.
