Training boost for Beehive

A Midlands community publishing manager is organising a series of public training sessions for beginners on the Internet.

Kerry Williams, of Northcliffe Electronic Publishing (Midlands), is responsible for the Leicestershire Beehive community network, and will be running the training until March.

The eight sessions are being made possible with Government funding accessed through the Single Regeneration Budget.

SRB aims to improve quality of life, and raise skills and confidence, among communities where traditional industries have declined in recent years.

Kerry's sessions will introduce members of the public to the Internet and e-mail, and show them how simple it is to have their own free Beehive website on the NEP Community Publishing Network.

Meanwhile, her counterpart in Staffordshire - Sue Walker - has organised a training session in partnership with Newcastle Council for Voluntary Services.
