A one-day e-business event run by the Express & Star was supported by a 16-page colour supplement in the newspaper and a dedicated website at westmidlands.com.
The "e-vent" was to promote the benefits of e-commerce to all types of business in the West Midlands.
The Express & Star's new media team, business development team and the promotions department worked together on the venture, which was followed up by a 28-page colour magazine, available at the one day event.
Speakers and workshops covered electronic document management, networks and ASPs - through to e-marketing and the future of computing.
Each advertiser/exhibitor was given two workshop slots and a main auditorium slot in their event package.
Sally Evans, new media manager at the Express & Star said: "E-vent 2001 helped to raise the profile of both Westmidlands.com and the Express & Star within the business community.
"Westmidlands.com was able to direct business back into the newspaper and benefited from developing the many sales opportunities presented on the day."
She added that the company was hoping to repeat the project.
