The Society of Editors website has been renamed with the new address of www.societyofeditors.org.

The change puts the society's name "up front" and the new .org extension better reflects its status.

Executive director Bob Satchwell said: "The society is open tomembership from editors, journalism trainers and media lawyers who workanywhere in the British Isles.

"We are a campaigning organisation that certainly does not make a profit rather than a commercial company so the .org address will be an improvement on the old .com address."

He said there was no need to change bookmarks on internet browsers as both addresses would reach the website.

The resource is updated regularly with information and advice for editors on the society's campaigning activities.
