Northcliffe Electronic Publishing has selected a tool called Autonomy to enhance the 'This Is...' regional community portals.

Autonomy enables visitors to the sites to navigate their way around by automatically prompting news and stories similar or relevant to the one they are already reading.

NEP managing director Owen Davies said: "Our community portals aim to provide relevant news and sports content in the regional areas covered by Northcliffe.

"We chose the Autonomy product to make our sites a more rewarding and fulfilling experience for the reader."

NEP's 'This Is...' portals target local communities and advertisers with local, regional and national news and sport, interactive leisure features and business services.

An on-line business directory provides details and maps for thousands of local businesses that link to banner advertisements and mini websites. Other site features include chat rooms and bulletin boards.
