Veteran Derby journalist Jim Brennan has his finger on the political pulse and will share a compilation of news and views through his new web venture, Fairplay UK.

The online newsletter is a sideways look at UK politics, the first edition dealing with a definition of fairness - and some provocative current examples, including the conduct of some media people.

There are pages for book reviews, contacts, and conferences.

Eighty-year-old Jim has worked as a columnist and contributor for the Derby Telegraph since 1955 after an illustrious career with various national newspapers.

He said: "Fairplay UK is included with Silicon Hollow News (a sideways look at science), as part of the online Global Journalism Review, which now seems like a fat weekend newspaper - with several sections - but no ads, so far."
