Essex Beehive reaches300 mark

The Beehive Community Network from the Essex Chronicle's website, thisisessex, is celebrating the creation of its 300th site.

The latest addition to the network, which brings the total to 300, is the East Colchester Community Partnership.

The Beehive, a joint venture between the Essex Chronicle Series and Newsquest (Essex) Ltd, offers non-profit making organisations the chance to create their own websites for free.

Groups can then update their sites whenever and wherever they want with the use of a password, and can use the site to display contacts and news of upcoming events.

Community web editor Helen Anderson said the sites are simple to create.

"Organisations don't have to worry if they find they need help to get started. We can discuss what they want from their site and then provide one-to-one help if they need it. They will have a site up and running in no time," she said.

The site launched last year, and currently receives around 15,000 page impressions a week.
