Gazette's donation for medics

A local newspaper is leading the way in moves to buy a new ambulance for the Brentwood St John's division.

The Brentwood Gazette has donated £500 towards the appeal for a £45,000 new Crusader vehicle.

The part-time ambulance staff have managed to secure a second-hand ambulance thanks to the local Lions group - for just £6,000 - to serve the division but is continuing the fund-raising to get a new one.

Appeal co-ordinator Paul Chinery said: "This means we will keep going as a division, and if and when we get a Crusader, this one will become a mobile first aid unit."
