Robert Lloyd, editor of the Llanelli Star, has jetted off to North America to accompany Cor Meibion, Llanelli's renowned male voice choir, on a three-week tour.

The award-winning choir, one of the leading male choirs in Britain, is currently touring the USA, where they have lined up eight engagements in six states.

And during the trip, Robert will be filing special reports and pictures from America, keeping readers up-to-date with how the tour is progressing.

He said: "It's a great honour to be invited by Cor Meibion to report on their tour and I hope to give readers a taste of a tour which should give a major boost to the name of Llanelli in the USA."

During the tour the choir will appear at the 70th Welsh National Gymanfa Ganu, an event staged by Welsh 'exiles' living in America and Canada.

It has also been invited to attend Festival of Wales 2001, a major event showcasing Welsh talent to America's Silicon Valley, the high-tech capital of the world.
