The Cornish Guardian is claiming a picture exclusive with the first shot of Euan Blair and his new 'girlfriend'.

The picture was taken as the Blair family visited Fowey on the British leg of their much-publicised summer holiday.

The paper carried a story about the picture - and another begging the Blairs to prove their trip was not just a publicity exercise.

Mr Blair and his wife Cherie were accompanied by their eldest son and his female companion when they went for dinner at the Food for Thought restaurant in Fowey.

Guardian photographer Ben Stansall said: "Tony Blair asked me what newspaper I was working for. I told him it was the Cornish Guardian and he said 'Great - I've always wanted to be in that publication'."

The chairman of the Cornwall Association of Tourist Attractions said in an open letter to the Blairs: "Let's see you in Cornwall again. Why not take a break here every year?"
