Scoopy invites budding journalists to Guardian

The Warrington Guardian mascot, Scoopy the Cat, invited two budding writers to spend a day at the newspaper offices last week.

Emily Whittle,(8), and Katie Sherlock,(9), were chosen by Scoopy as Reporters of the Month.

After seeing Scoopy's request for young reporters on his page in the newspaper, the girls sent in some of their work.

Emily wrote a report about road safety and a story about her Moroccan holiday whilst Katie sent in a poem about wildlife in autumn.

The youngsters' writing talent impressed Snoopy and they later had their work published in the Guardian.

During their day, Emily and Katie saw how the Guardian is put together each week.

Suzanne Elsworth, the Guardian news editor said: "Perhaps they will work at the Guardian one day!"
