Speakers announced for Society conference

Several high profile speakers have been announced for the Newspaper Society's Advertising Conference to be held in Blackpool on September 17 and 18.

The event, entitled The Prescription for Continued Success, is aiming to encourage and motivate the sales forces of regional press publishers.

Speakers announced for the event so far include the chairman and creative director of TBWA London, Trevor Beattie.

Mr Beattie was recently voted the ninth most powerful person in marketing after he worked creating highly publicised advertising campaigns for companies such as Playstation, French Connection, Wonderbra and the Labour Party.

The advertising expert will talk about his favourite ads of all time.

Chairing the conference will be the advertising director of the Gazette Media Company, Bob Cuffe.

Also present will be the Newspaper Society president and Kent Messenger Group chairman, Edwin Boorman, who will talk on the main issues currently faced by media advertising departments.

Managing director of Trinity Mirror Regional, Steven Parker, will focus on the need for brand management and the ability to copy a great idea.

In addition, case studies will be discussed from the Yorkshire Post, the Manchester Evening News, RIM Letterbox Direct and Fish4jobs.

Retail, property, recruitment and motors experts will also be analysing how the future role of the regional press could be affected by market forecasts.
